Cookes Installation ServicesAt Cookes we offer full design, installation and commisioning service for all types of commercial audio, performing arts and specialist lighting including architectural interior and exterior lighting.
We have worked with some of the biggest UK construction and electrical companies inlcuding Morgan Ashurst, Bluestone, John Youngs (R.G.Carter), Eyre Electrical (DBS group) and many renowned architect firms. Our fully trained team have the necessary qualifications to complete any size of job.
We are CIS registered and all of our installation team members hold CSCS cards.

Mojo's, Prince of Wales Road, Norwich September 2009Mojos Nightclub is situated in the heart of Prince of Wales Road, the nightlife street of Norwich.

After an extensive revamp Mojos decided to improve the club and bar lighting using Acme Genesis moving heads.
A total of nine moving heads synchronously glide through the air powered via revolutionary 20watt LED lamps.
   
The moving head projectors have simlilar performance to 150w metal halide units but only run 20watt LED light sources. This has two great benefits, less power consumption and less heat.

The Acme Genesis Moving Head Projector also features interchangeable rotating Gobos and a seperate colour wheel for mutliple combinations of colour and patterns. Essence Bar, Prince of Wales Road, Norwich September 2009Essence Bar on Norwich's nightlife street, Prince of Wales Road.

Upgrade with I-Key M808 audio monitors for the DJ Booth

The M-808 studio monitor is a 8 ”, 125 watt Bi-amplified unit that provides professional clarity and accuracy for super tight and distortion-free audio reproduction. Boasting an array of key components such as XLR/TRS/RCA connectors for superior connectivity options, an adjustable HF cut/boost control with a frequency range of 45Hz – 20kHz, volume control and slotted ports for reduced distortion and improved imaging, the M-808 delivers and maintains incredible natural sounds. Magnetically shielded and attractively designed MDF cabinet with radiused edges, 8 ” red woven glass aramid composite woofer and 1’’ soft-dome tweeter further add to the monitor’s sleek and smooth appeal.
Langley School opt for Opti RiggingJuly 2009
Langley School near Loddon in Norfolk, a long standing Cookes customer, required a lighting truss for stage lighting and Pyrotechnics also supplied by Cookes.
This rigging is used during larger presentations in the large sports hall at the School and could easily be added to, altered or be dis-assembled for other use in the future.

After a consultation a sizeable square rig of OPTI 200 truss was selected with Doughty Hardware and installed by Cookes.

Necton Church of England Primary School July 2009
A Pool audio system was designed and installed by Cookes in 2009 after consultations with the Schools very experienced Swimming teacher.
The system comprises of two pool-suitable JBL speakers and a headset radio microphone with the main items, such as amplifier and Denon CD player, being housed in the boiler room.
 
The system features a wired and wall mounted remote control for CD playback, volume and microphone volume, as well as hard wired and waterproof cd control functions such as play, stop, track back and forward. This enables the system to be controlled from Poolside without the need to leave children unattended.

Sewell Park College added three new pro spec Audio Technica UHF wireless systems to the Main Hall line array P.A. system on the 1st of May 2009.
Cookes acted quickly to the urgent order installing within three days of the first enquiry.
The first use of these systems was for an important gathering of dignitaries including Labour MP Dr Ian Gibson
The systems installed were two Audiotechnica 3171 UHF hand held systems.
 
and for transmission from a powerpoint presenting laptop a M2 wireless UHF system was specified.

Great Yarmouth Conservative & Unionist Club April 2009Great Yarmouth Conservative Club is located on the top floor of the Market Gates shopping centre in the retail heart of the town. The club is a busy, friendly and vibrant venue which has many key attractions including dance classes, snooker and a buy bar serving food and drinks.
The club contacted Cookes requesting a high quality sound system solution for their function room. A Fohhn Xperience one power system (4 speaker boxes) with further powered speakers for a side room was specified. The system is controlled from a wall mounted Peavey PV10 mixer.
A Gemini DJ CD player, mixer and case was provided which is connected through a floor box housing mains sockets and audio inputs. When the system is not in use the sockets are totally hidden and has a flush walk-over surface and also ensures when the system is in use there are no trip hazards.

Most Fohhn Active speaker solutions are fully adjustable from the back panel and feature many music style presets as well as full control over levels, crossover and speaker dependant equaliser settings.
 
All Fohhn Xperience systems are fully PC connective. This, when used with Fohhn Fusion soft, has amazing adjustability.

Gemini The Sanctuary Bar, March 2009The Sancturary Bar was completed in March 2009.

The multi-function venue which promotes regional and local bands, artists and DJ's, a major referbishment, which is reputed to cost a seven figure sum. The owners of the company contacted Cookes to discuss the focus for the venue. After several consultations Cookes recommended a UK made premium Martin Audio Blackline system featuring the impressive S15+ and F10+ products.

Martin Audio MA series power amplifiers provided the energy to thrust the speakers with signal processing via a Martin Audio M3+ processor.

The venue also features several remote input plates for audio connection and an iPod pro 19 inch rack dock and multizone mixers for total system control.
Cookes also configured a 1080p multiscreen video installation in full HD format through a freesat system with full audio intergration.

Clover Hill Community Association maintains and manages the Village Hall on behalf of Norwich City Council. It provides a venue for activities to the benefit of the local community (Clover Hill, Chapel Break and Three Score areas of Norwich).
Cloverhill Villiage Halls' centre manager was keen to replace the existing lighting with a more controllable system and also wanted a better enviromental impact.
After a short consultation Cookes specified six lanterns each with 24 1watt LED's and four standard LED lanterns.
This reduced the power required from 5900watts to less than 250watts. Other huge benefits include RED, GREEN & BLUE (RGB) colour mixing giving some 65,000 plus colour tones available from the DMX lighting desk and extremely long lamp life.

Norwich Arts Centre upgrade to Allen & Heath Mixing PowerJanuary 2009
Norwich Arts Centre Upgrade to the latest spec Allen & Heath GL3800.

Norwich Arts Centres' chief technician consulted Cookes regarding the replacement of their ailing desk. After much consideration the GL3800 with 48 inputs was specified (24 channel version pictured). This solid UK construction and world beating preamps make the GL series an obvious choice for the medium to large venue or hire company.

Allen & Heath GL Microsite Hingham Methodist Church, Norfolk December 2008.Hingham Methodist Church Public Address system was installed in December 2008.
The superb perfoming system comprises of German made white Fohhn AL-100 Column Speakers run in a high quality low impedance amplifier system.

The Public address system feature three UHF radio Systems, two handheld and a lavalier.
Also for the hard of hearing a floor tape based induction loop was installed.

Completed October 2008, for Norfolk County Council's architect firm NPS, this new developement shows the future of primary schools.
A hi-tech lighting and audio and lighting systems were designed and installed to answer the many difficult uses and issues facing schools including health and safety issues.
2 Cookes designed custom lighing bars each with two Martin Professional Mac250Entours and a Mac250 Wash mounted from the inverted sloped ceiling with lighting control is via a Zero88 Jester ML lighting Desk connected with wireless DMX. This overcame access to height concerns and allowed for a state of the art production lighting.
Audio is provided by Martin Audio Ceiling speakers and amplification. A wheeled, end user rack featuring a PA mixer connected to two UHF wireless mic systems, a MP3/CD player and iPod Dock.

Norwich Arts Centre Moving Ahead. July 2008 
Norwich Arts Centre year on year is presenting more technics perfomances and productions. Technical Manager, Paul Osborne, approached Cookes to discuss modern stage lighting solutions. In July 2008 Cookes supplied Norwich Arts Centre with a quantity of Robe 250 at moving head fixtures.
The Robe moving heads offer great flexibility, virually giving the lighting technician the ability to put any colour in any intensity with any texture anywhere on stage.

Norwich Arts Centre Upgrade with Martin Audio LE1500 Monitors June 2008
Norwich's premier performing and media arts venue has been established for over 30 years and has been located at it's present address, St Swithin's Church, since 1980.
Martin Audio Le1500 monitors where specified after much consideration by Paul Osborne the Technical Co-Ordinator.



The Martin Audio LE1500S is a compact, high performance stage monitor combining high output and controlled dispersion with discreet, contemporary design.
It features a high–specification 15” (380mm) low frequency drive unit and a 1.4” (35mm) exit compression driver mounted on a differential dispersion horn. Differential dispersion technology increases the area over which a constant SPL and consistent frequency response is maintained at ear height, enabling the artist to move around more freely.

Norwich Arts Centre The Old Thorns Golf & Country Estate Liphook, HampshireThe owners of The Old Thorns, the Shaw family are long standing customers of Cookes. Cookes have been involved with the Shaw family in many previous projects, spanning decades.

This world leading Golf and Hotel facility boasts a challenging par72 golf course built in 1976 and first gained world fame on July 10, 1982, when a high-profile opening fourball was played, in front of a large crowd, between four of the greatest golfers in history. Isao Aoki won the event with a score of 69, beating Jack Nicklaus, Seve Ballesteros and the then Open champion, Bill Rogers.

Major investment at The Old Thorns started in 2007 and Cookes were invited to specify an audio and lighing system for the new ballroom.
This high specification lighting installation features custom lighting bars, Robe 250xt scans, robe colourmix 250 heads, Pulsar Masterpiece 216 and zero4001 controllers, Pulsar chroma product, 2 custom light engineering mirror balls (1mtr), a blue 60mw grafix laser, Mutiple Alloy Parcans for the stage, a Martin Professional Hazer and full controller programming.
The Flagship audio system comprises of Fohhn speakers. Four Fohhn XT33 flown from cables from the ceiling and four floor mounted Fohhn RS4 subwoofers. The system is digitally controlled and amplified via two Fohhn D-2.1500 Power Amplifiers. Infill ceiling speakers where also installed.
The DJ system was Pioneer DJM600 and two CDJ players with a Numark Mp3 controller and radio microphone.

EAMA's installation features a premium multizone, multi-amplifier 100v line system with European made RCF loudspeakers and RCF amplification; mulitple Sennheiser G2 headset UHF wireless systems, music playback and digital solid state recording of the auctions for future reference.

Blyth Jex / Sewell Park College
Cookes were invited to assist in the design of the audio and lighting system for the new purpose built Dance Studio and also the audio system for the new main hall at Sewell College (formerly known as Blyth Jex School) by Norfolk County Council owned property services firm Norfolk Property Services(NPS).
The main hall system features a low spill custom designed hard of hearing loop installed by Cookes with all the hardware installed in a wall mounted steel lockable equipment rack located in a security area.
The audio system utilises two Electrovoice wireless microphone sytems, these were specified over cable microphones to reduce trip hazards and a mixer to allow the input of other audio sources housed in the equipment rack.
A Line Array system was specified for the audio system and Peavey's Versarray system was chosen. The School Versarray system comprises of four Versarray 112 cabinets vertically arrayed and mounted via the Versarray fly bar suspended by a custom designed bracket. The system is powered by two Peavey CS 2000 power amplifiers and digitally controlled by a Peavey VSX26 system controller.


In The Dance Studio, Cookes installed four 5 metre lighting bars with four high power LED par64 lanterns mounted on each bar. The LED par cans give almost limitless colour options along with exceeding the clients requirements for low power consumption. The par lanterns are remotely controlled via a controller which is mounted in a wheeled equipment rack for very easy use.
Audio in the Dance Studio is provided via four Peavey Impulse 12 speakers wall mounted via versa mount brackets. The mixer, audio sources and amplifier are mounted in a wheeled equipment rack for very easy use. A hard of hearing loop is installed under the custom sprung flooring to comply with DDA requirements.
Cookes worked with the architects NPS, the main contractor Morgan Ashurst and Main Electrical contractor Eyre electrical, to ensure the audio and specialist lighting systems worked well and were finished on time and on budget for the client, Norfolk County Council.
In all a very impressive Dance studio with state of the art lighting and superb audio system and a staggering effective system in the main hall.

Maddermarket Theatre NorwichMaddermarket Theatre's Stage Manager Rhett Davies approached Cookes PA adviser Ross Coupland to discuss theatre sound reinforcement. They soon concluded that a six speaker, active RCF 4Pro system was to be specified and supplied along with an Allen & Heath GL3800 series mixing console. Cookes advised, supplied and delivered the Audio solutions. The excellent Maddermarket technical team installed the system.

Browston Hall ,The Fountain SuiteThe Fountain Suite at Browston Hall near Great Yarmouth is an exciting 200 capacity east coast venue for weddings, seminars and private hire.

The lighting installation comprises of 4 Martin MX10 scanners, Martin Xciter controller, mirror balls, Robe 250 colour changers, 2 Abstract Barrel effects and a Haze machine.
A flagship audio system was installed using Fohhn RS4 subwoofers, Fohhn system controller and four Fohhn XT3 loudspeakers. Ceiling speakers as infills for the seating areas.


A restaurant 100v line system was also provided for background audio.

Browston Hall also offers Golf (including Pro Shop), indoor bowls, outdoor bowls, tennis and accommodation as well as superb food in the restaurant.

Browston Hall was completed in July 2007 Norwich Central Baptist Church
Norwich Central Baptist Church public address and live sound systems installed and commissioned by Cookes. The church and rooms where fully refurbished, extended and completed in 2006. Cookes worked with the main building contractor John Youngs (part of R G Carter Construction Ltd.) to ensure the audio system was finished on time and on budget.

This Allen & Heath DR66 controlled audio system features two audio zones. The lecturn and remote spoken word mics are routed through two Tannoy column speakers with a further two Tannoy columns run on a time alignment delay for the raised balcony area. The second zone (the music system) of the DR66 is controlled via a Allen & Heath GL2400II desk which is situated in the sound engineer station. The music system has full stage boxes wired to the desk via a multicore. The 'icing on the cake' is the front of house music system, which is powered by Yamaha power amplifiers, is the Martin Blackline series. The Blackline F12 tops are wall mounted whilst the sub woofers, the S15's, are mounted on the stage. NCBC also route the audio from video presentations through the front of house system and pre-recorded music from the engineer station.

The Forge Venue.
Following detailed consultation with the client Cookes specified state of the art equipment that not only excelled in performance but also had to exceed the enviromental wishes and policies of Kelling Heath. These included lower carbon footprint through much improved power consumption over conventional equipment. The Forge entertainment venue was equipped with the latest in LED and moving head lighting technology, fully controlled with Pulsar control equipment.
A multizone audio system was also installed with two DDA induction loops. The main entertainment system specified was a German made Dynacord D-Lite active system known for it's efficiency and high quality sound. A DJ system and full PA desk where also provided making the system suitable for all types of entertainment. Electrovoice Evid surround speakers for the bar and restaurant areas where also installed for the seating areas.

Dussindale Primary School 
Dussindale Primary is Norfolk's first brand new school to open in nearly thirty years and is a modern and handsome building. Cookes were invited at the electrical design stage to offer our input to the needs of Key stage one and two pupils.
The two ceiling mounted lighting bar system features fresnels dimmed via Pulsar dimmers which are housed in a facility cupboard. A DMX dimmer control is housed with audio equipment in a utility wheeled rack for ease of use.
The hall is multifunctional so ceiling speakers were used, however because of the size of the hall their performance needed to be very high. As a result six Martin Audio speakers were specified and they produce a clear and impressive sound.
A remote microphone point was also provided to ensure tripping hazards are kept to a minimum.
Cookes also installed a hard of hearing loop in the main hall. this was under floor tape mounted and the system was optimised to comply with the new code of practice BS8300 (2002) for the design of new buildings and their approaches to meet the needs of disabled people. A reception counter loop system was also installed.

The Castle Carvery, Caister Norfolk
The Castle Carvery installation features a PC based hard disk playback system with speakers from Wharfedale. The Speakers cover many areas in the venue, including childres play area.
Castle Carvery Website The Burrage Centre at James Paget HospitalThe Burrage Centre at James Paget Hospital in Gorleston near Great Yarmouth is the hospital's busy on-site social club, which has a good range of facilities with a licensed bar and regular live music.
Cookes were invited to specify an audio system to cover the bar and conservatory areas. The installation features multiple Electrovoice Evid loudspeakers, two speaker zones with a modern ipod controller, radio microphone system and six disc cd player. A remote input was also provided to cover touring entertainers.
Job completed July 2008 Alderman Swindell First SchoolCompleted in late 2005 the Alderman Swindell extention developement, including new multi-function hall, was one of many projects between Cookes and Norfolk County Council owned architect firm, Norfolk Property Services (NPS). Involved from design to completion, Cookes provided the solution for this growing sucessful school in Great Yarmouth. We worked with the Main contractors, MS Oakes to insure the project finished on time and on budget.

Wall mounted Martin Audio F12 speakers, powered via a QSC amplifier, installed into a wall mounted rack housing a mixer, professional cd and tape units.
Lighting details
Custom, internally wired lighting bar with 6 way outlets connected to a wall mounted rack housing a Pulsar 6 channel dimmer rack and dmx lighting controller. The bars were fitted with six professional stage fresnel lanterns.

The Installation featured a steel equipment rack housing the audio source players, mixer and amplifier. Four wall mounted Martin Audio Blackline F12 speakers covered the audio requirements.
Two 5 meter ceiling mounted lighting bars each fitted with fresnels handled the stage lighting. The fresnels were dimmed via Pulsar Dimmers and a DMX lighing desk was housed in the wall mounted audio rack. Queen Charlotte P.H.The Queen Charlotte public house (formerly the Artful Dodger) on Dereham road in Norwich is a truly superb live music venue. The QC has a permanent stage with a professional in-house PA system with resident sound engineer.

Kevin Grantham, the Queen Charlottes' landlord, has invested hugely in the venue on equipment and in the fabric of the building. Pop down for a great night out.

The sound system supplied by Cookes features a Fohhn pa system with two Fohhn XT3's, Fohhn XT4's and two Fohhn Active Subs. Sound desk console.
The lighting system is fully LED based featuring LED par cans and LED flood banks. This ensures low power consumption and great lamp life, with virually no servicing required. The lighting is controlled via a Pulsar Masterpiece.

Fatso's Restaurants, Norwich & Great Yarmouth

Fatso's offer the 1920-1930's American experience, with generous servings and reasonable prices.
Fatso's restaurants feaure quality multizone audio systems using Celestion & Wharfedale speakers, powered with multiple low impedance amplifiers. A custom happy birthday jingle was also produced by Cookes. The play back of the jingle automatically fades the music playing and fades back in when finished.
Cookes has supplied and installed the Audio equipment for all of the Fatso's chain of restaurants. Dunston Hall Sunningdale SuiteDunston Hall is an imposing red brick country house hotel set in 150 acres of beautiful wooded Norfolk parkland and is part of the DeVere Hotels and Resorts Group.

The Sunningdale Suite, the Hotels premier function room and business area, features lighting from Clay Paky and Pulsar. Audio system From Lem Italy.
