Cooke's Band Instruments, nestled in the heart of Norwich, is a musical haven that has been an integral part of the local music community since the founding of Cookes Pianos in 1887 by Arthur William Cooke. From its humble beginnings, it has become a cornerstone of Norwich's musical landscape, and the staff turned a passion for music into a thriving business, which has woven itself into the fabric of Norwich's musical community.
In 1965, Arthur Cookes's great nephew, Brian Morrison, started a second store in response to the growing Rock 'n' Roll scene and Cookes Band Instruments as we know it, was born. Initially located in a small store located in St Margaret's Street in Norwich, it soon relocated to it's current premises on St Benedicts Street.
Matthew Morrison, 5th generation of the Cooke family, is the current Managing Director and joined the company as a Saturday boy when he was 14 years old, helping Cooke's Band Instruments to carve a niche for itself by specializing in guitar, bass, orchestral and folk instruments. The team also supply live sound and PA systems, recording products, specialist lighting and effects and drum accessories.
Whether catering for seasoned musicians or beginners, the company prides itself on offering a diverse range of high-quality instruments for all musical needs. As Cooke's Band Instruments continues to evolve, the company's commitment to enhancing the musical experience in Norwich remains unwavering and is a testament to the power of music to bring people together.
