This is what Taylor Guitars say about the Gold Label 814e Koa:
Crafted by Andy Powers to deliver a fresh yet familiar sonic experience, the new Gold Label 814e Koa offers a voice rich in vintage-inspired warmth and dynamic power. This model debuts our new Super Auditorium body shape—an evolution of the Grand Auditorium—featuring subtly expanded contours that enhance volume and bring out a deeper low-end response.
The guitar pairs Hawaiian koa back and sides with a torrefied Sitka spruce top, producing a sound that’s both powerful and rich in midrange character, with the kind of warmth and depth typically reserved for well-aged instruments. Inside, a fanned version of our V-Class bracing architecture boosts volume and sustain while preserving clarity and articulation, even at louder playing levels.
One of the key innovations is a new long-tenon neck joint, which improves resonance and tonal transfer while offering easier adjustability. Visually, the Gold Label 814e Koa stands out with an elegant set of appointments, including Continental inlays, a newly designed pickguard, grained ivoroid trim, a Honduran rosewood bridge, and antique chrome Gotoh 510 tuners with ebony buttons. A full-body gloss finish highlights the koa’s natural beauty and tonal complexity.
Outfitted with LR Baggs Element VTC electronics and housed in a deluxe hardshell case with a British Cocoa exterior, this model blends timeless aesthetics with cutting-edge craftsmanship for a uniquely expressive playing experience.
