This is what Faith Guitars say about the Neptune Baritone Electro Acoustic:
Based on the Neptune ‘Baby Jumbo’ body shape, this Baritone Acoustic is truly something special. From the very first strum, it’s clear that this isn’t your typical acoustic—the depth and darkness of its tone are immediately striking.
With a little time and exploration, its unique character begins to shine. Chord voicings take on a fresh, powerful dimension you’ve likely never heard before. And if you're brave enough to plug it in and add a touch of reverb? Prepare for a transformative experience—once you hear it, there’s no going back. We promise.
The Importance of Body Shape
This Baritone Acoustic showcases one of our favorite designs—the baby-jumbo Neptune. It features a longer neck and extended scale length (700mm / 27.5 inches) compared to standard acoustics, paired with heavier gauge strings to accommodate lower tunings.
While its size may feel a bit large for players with a smaller frame, this impressive instrument rewards with a rich, deep tone that can’t be replicated elsewhere. When amplified through the built-in Fishman INK3 preamp system, those profound acoustic tones come alive with remarkable clarity and presence, delivering an even more captivating performance.
How Do You Tune It?
Thanks to its longer scale length, this guitar can handle significantly lower tunings without the strings losing tension or sounding dull. In practice, the Baritone comfortably bridges the gap between the low end of a standard acoustic and the higher range of a bass guitar.
You can still use standard tuning patterns and familiar chord shapes, but with a much deeper tonal range. Instead of starting on a low E, you have the option to tune down to a low C, B, or even A! Each semitone drop opens up a whole new realm of creative possibilities and inspiration.
Which Tonewoods Are Used and Why?
Consistent with the other HiGloss models, this Neptune Baritone is crafted with a premium solid Engelmann Spruce top. Its back and sides showcase beautifully figured, three-piece Indonesian Rosewood, elegantly bound with flamed Maple. The fingerboard, bridge, headplate, and heelcap are made from rich Indonesian Ebony, selected for both durability and tonal clarity.
How Does It All Come Together?
The combination of Spruce and Rosewood has long been a favorite among guitarists, known for delivering that classic sound—bright, sparkling highs, deep, rich bass, and clear, detailed articulation across the entire range. These signature tonal qualities remain intact in the Baritone guitar, despite its unique dimensions and longer scale, with an emphasis on warm lows and full mid-range, all presented with impressive clarity.
And just to emphasize once more: plug it in! The amplified sound is nothing short of a revelation.
The Electronics:
Once you’re ready to hear the Baritone amplified—and trust us, you won’t want to put it down—you’ll find a Fishman S-core piezo pickup installed under the saddle, integrated into the Fishman INK3 preamp system. This setup makes amplification effortless and reliable.
The nearly flush, side-mounted preamp features a chromatic tuner, three-band EQ, and volume control. Plus, the output jack is cleverly positioned at the bottom of the guitar, making battery changes quick and convenient.
