This is what Faith Guitars say about the FG2HCE Legacy Earth Rosewood:
The Legacy FG2 Earth is a refined and beautifully crafted guitar, offering both exceptional feel and performance. Built with premium rosewood and featuring a bone nut and saddle for enhanced resonance and sustain, it delivers a rich, articulate tone. The advanced pickup system combines a transducer with an internal microphone, capturing every nuance of your playing with clarity and depth. Paired with an upgraded hard case, this is a truly professional-grade instrument, crafted with high-end tonewoods for players who demand the best.
The Significance of Body Shape
The Faith Legacy Series sets a new benchmark for professional acoustic guitars, drawing exclusively from Patrick James Eggle’s iconic body designs. This particular model, the ‘Earth’, is inspired by Patrick’s classic ‘Linville’ shape, itself rooted in the tradition of vintage Orchestra Models (OM).
With a 15” lower bout—matching the dimensions of the Venus—it offers a slightly more refined and elegant contour overall. This balanced size makes it an ideal all-rounder: large enough to deliver impressive unplugged projection, yet compact and comfortable enough for extended stage use by players of any build.
What Is Torrefied Wood?
Adding to the guitar’s elegant construction, the Sitka Spruce tops used in these models have undergone a process known as torrefaction (or torrefication)—a method of aging the wood to enhance tone and stability.
This Canadian Spruce is first air-dried to reduce its natural moisture content. It is then carefully "roasted" in a kiln under controlled atmospheric conditions with minimal oxygen. This process removes nearly all remaining moisture and alters the wood at a cellular level. After cooling, a controlled amount of humidity is reintroduced, bringing the wood back to an ideal moisture balance.
The result is a torrefied tonewood that’s not only richer in colour, but also more stable and responsive. This change in the wood’s cellular structure mimics the natural aging process of older guitars.
When wood is freshly cut, its internal fibres are irregular. Over years of playing, vibrations gradually align those fibres, leading to the enhanced tone associated with well-aged instruments. Torrefaction accelerates this process—allowing the fibres to settle more quickly, giving the guitar a mature, resonant tone straight out of the box.
Electronics
Faith Legacy models come equipped with Fishman’s FLEX-T-BLEND preamp system, offering a powerful blend of tonal control and performance flexibility. This system combines an undersaddle piezo pickup with a condenser microphone mounted just inside the soundhole, delivering a more natural and balanced amplified tone. It also allows players to fully explore percussive playing techniques by dialing in the body’s resonance when needed.
The preamp includes three ultra-low-profile control knobs neatly integrated into the guitar’s side, along with a discreetly displayed built-in tuner. Additional features include an EQ contour control, a piezo/mic blend knob, and a phase switch to help manage feedback in live settings.
The battery is securely housed in a fabric pouch attached to the neck block inside the body, while the output jack is cleverly combined with the strap button at the base of the guitar for a clean and practical design.
