The Peavey HP2 is crafted using a combination of cutting-edge technology, traditional handcrafting techniques, professional-grade upgrades, and personalized features. When a guitar made in Europe carries the initials of Peavey founder and CEO Hartley Peavey, players can expect a distinctive design that stands apart with its own signature style.
While the overall look is timeless, the HP2 sets itself apart with its carved top and asymmetrical, offset body shape, offering both comfort and perfect balance for effortless playability. The top is made of maple, while the back uses basswood. These hardwoods were selected not just for their visual appeal and weight, but also for their unique tonal characteristics. The body is further highlighted with either cream or black-edge binding.
The handpicked birdseye maple neck and fingerboard ensure exceptional stability and ease of playing. With dual graphite reinforcement bars and an adjustable steel torsion rod for easy access, the neck is built for additional strength. The bolt-on design with a contoured neck heel enhances comfort. The oil-finished fingerboard, cut from the same piece of wood as the neck, maintains consistency in color and grain patterns. Stress-relieved lamination further boosts stability. The HP2 features a 25 ½” scale length, 22 jumbo frets, and a 15” fingerboard radius. The headstock, tilted back at a 10-degree angle, includes a 3+3 tuning machine configuration with Schaller® tuning machines and pearloid or cream buttons. The guitar’s chrome-plated hardware adds the finishing touch.
The HP2’s build and electronics are perfectly synchronized. Equipped with two custom-wound Peavey humbucking pickups, it delivers exceptional output and tonal response. These pickups are crafted using a two-step wax-dipping process that minimizes noise and resists microphonic feedback. Mounted directly to the body, the pickups reduce feedback at high volumes while enhancing responsiveness. A Switchcraft 3-way toggle switch allows for easy selection between the pickups' up, center, and down positions. Additionally, the guitar features a Peavey/Floyd Rose licensed double-locking tremolo system. To round out the design, the HP2 includes two push-pull knobs for volume and tone, allowing players to split the pickups individually.
