This pre loved Gibson Les Paul Standard Limited Edition 2004 – Santa Fe Sunrise is a relatively rare, visually striking variant of the classic Les Paul, produced during a short mid-2000s run where Gibson experimented with upgraded specs and unique finishes. It is in good condition with just a couple of small dings, some tarnishing on the hardware and a small amount of fret wear. The case has considerable wear.
This model is part of a limited edition series (2004–2005) that combined features from multiple Les Paul lines—Standard, Custom, and vintage-inspired specs—into one hybrid instrument.
Produced in limited numbers (generally believed to be a few hundred to a couple thousand units)
Available in a small set of special finishes, including Santa Fe Sunrise
The defining feature is its distinctive finish:
A warm golden–orange burst, sometimes with reddish tones
Usually paired with a highly figured AAA flame maple top
Designed to resemble desert sunrise colours, giving it a unique visual identity
This finish is much less common than traditional Les Paul bursts, which adds to its appeal.
Body & Neck
Mahogany body with carved maple top
Set mahogany neck
Typically found with either a ’50s or ’60s neck profile
24.75" scale length
Fingerboard
Ebony fingerboard (unusual for a Standard and more typical of a Custom)
Trapezoid inlays
Binding & Aesthetics
Full body binding
Headstock binding with crown inlay (a Custom-style detail)
Nickel hardware
Pickups & Electronics
Burstbucker Pro or similar PAF-style humbuckers
Traditional Les Paul controls: 2 volume, 2 tone, 3-way switch
This model blends classic Les Paul warmth with slightly enhanced clarity:
Thick, sustaining tone from the mahogany and maple construction
Brighter attack and tighter response due to the ebony fretboard
Vintage-style output pickups with strong midrange and clear highs
This guitar stands out because it mixes features from different Gibson tiers:
Standard construction with Custom-style visual and material upgrades
Vintage-inspired electronics with modern reliability
Limited-run finish not seen in regular production
It’s often considered a “hidden gem” among early-2000s Gibson guitars
