Pre Loved Hohner The Jack Bass Black Inc Bag

In a very good used condition - has a few minor dinks and scratches / playing marks in places, but nothing too major. The battery cover became detached at some point, so the previous fashioned a new metal battery cover (pictured). They obviously did a very good job as they even put in inserts for the screws!

The bass has just had a minor service and set up with a fresh set of D'Addario ESXL170 strings worth £60 alone!

Included a padded gig bag.

This pre loved Hohner Jack Bass is a headless electric bass guitar known for its distinctive Steinberger-inspired design, versatile electronics, and solid construction. Manufactured primarily in the late 1980s and early 1990s by the German company Hohner, the Jack Bass was part of a trend toward compact, ergonomic, and modern-looking instruments.

Key Features:

1. Headless Design

  • Inspired by the Steinberger basses of the 1980s.

  • Uses a double-ball end string system (like Steinberger), although some models support regular strings.

  • Tuning is done at the bridge rather than the headstock, contributing to better balance and a more compact size.

2. Body and Neck

  • Body: Made from maple or other hardwoods, with a compact and minimalist body shape.

  • Neck: Usually bolt-on maple neck with a rosewood fretboard.

  • Scale: Standard 34" scale length.

  • Construction is solid and comfortable for both seated and standing playing.

3. Electronics

  • Pickups: Equipped with two humbuckers.

  • Controls: Volume, tone, and pickup blend or balance; active models have bass and treble EQ.

  • Active electronics give it a punchy, modern tone suitable for a wide range of styles.

4. Bridge and Tuning System

  • Uses a custom bridge/tuner unit, similar to Steinberger designs.

  • Offers fine-tuning precision and improved tuning stability.

5. Aesthetics

  • Sleek, minimalist appearance.

Notable Aspects:

  • The Hohner Jack Bass is popular among players who want a unique look, reliable performance, and a compact form factor.

  • It offers a cost-effective alternative to Steinberger basses while retaining many of the same advantages.

  • Has developed a bit of a cult following in recent years for its blend of vintage charm and modern functionality.
