This pre loved REVV G4 voiced after the flagship Generator 120 Red Channel is a thick gain monster that still has the nuance to cover old-school tones. The G4 is an amp in a box distortion pedal based on this tone used by premier touring and recording guitarists worldwide. Ir has some signs of wear but functiuons as intended.

The Revv G4 is a high-gain “amp-in-a-box” distortion pedal designed to replicate the red channel of Revv’s Generator amps—basically the most saturated, aggressive side of their sound.

Core sound character

  • Thick, saturated distortion
The G4 is known for being very full and “wide,” with lots of low end and smooth highs. It’s often described as more of a wall of sound than a tight, surgical tone.

  • Amp-like feel (not just a pedal)
It’s built to feel like playing through a high-gain tube amp channel—so it has compression, sustain, and a slightly “spongy” response under your fingers.

  • Smooth and compressed attack
Compared to sharper distortions, the G4 is more fluid and forgiving, which makes it great for leads and sustained notes.

Tonal identity

G4 = fat, saturated, low-mid heavy (“sledgehammer” tone)

  • It emphasizes:

    • Low-end depth (chunky riffs, drop tunings)

    • Smooth highs (not harsh or fizzy)

    • Scooped or wide EQ feel rather than honky mids

  • Very high gain available — easily covers modern metal

  • But can also back off into:

    • Classic rock crunch

    • Bluesy breakup (with gain lowered)

    • Works well for:

    • Metal (especially thick/sludgy styles)

    • Hard rock

    • Lead playing with lots of sustain

The 3-mode switch changes how the distortion behaves:

  • Red mode → maximum saturation, huge and heavy

  • Blue mode → tighter, more controlled low end

  • Off → more open, classic distortion tones

  • “Big, chewy, amp-like high gain”

  • Less about precision and more about weight and feel

  • Great for players who want their distortion to feel like a cranked amp rather than a sharp, modern pedal
