The TGI DIB1 Active DI Box is a compact direct injection box designed to convert the high-impedance, unbalanced output of instruments such as guitars, basses, keyboards and acoustic pickups into a low-impedance, balanced signal suitable for a mixing console or PA system. Being an active design, it provides better impedance matching for passive pickups and helps preserve signal strength and high-frequency detail over long cable runs.
Features
Active circuitry powered by a 9V battery.
¼-inch jack and XLR inputs.
Balanced XLR output for connection to a mixer or PA.
Parallel (link) ¼-inch output for feeding a stage amplifier while simultaneously sending a signal to the PA.
Ground lift switch to help eliminate ground loop hum.
Three-position pad switch with 0 dB, -20 dB and -40 dB attenuation for matching different signal levels.
Typical applications
The TGI DIB1 is well suited for:
Passive acoustic guitar pickups.
Electric guitars and basses.
Keyboards and other electronic instruments.
Live sound and recording applications where a balanced, low-noise signal is required.
When used with a passive acoustic pickup, the active input stage provides a more suitable load than many mixer inputs, helping the instrument retain its natural output level and tonal balance.
Construction
The unit is housed in a rugged metal enclosure suitable for stage use and includes rubber feet for stability. It operates from a standard 9V battery, which is supplied with the unit.
