The RGD61 is Ibanez's ultimate metal guitar, engineered to meet the unique demands of down-tuning. Down-tuning requires a specific responsiveness that regular guitars can’t deliver, so we've optimized this model to enhance the thick, rich tone produced by lower tunings. To achieve this, we extended the neck by one inch to a 26.5" scale—longer than standard, but not excessively so. This design keeps the neck fast enough for speed solos, while extra-deep cutaways provide easy access to the highest notes on the neck.
